Complimentary meal for every shift worked Job Title: Hostess Department: Ariccia Cucina Reports To: Restaurant General Manager Job Overview: Ariccia Cucina Italiana is located inside of the Hotel at Auburn University. Ariccia is a modern escape that focuses on the best Italian food, wine and community in Auburn, Alabama. Ariccia honors the classic central Italian cuisine, focusing on the freshest seasonal products, Italian meats & cheeses, signature Porchetta, house-made focaccia and Auburn's best wood-fired pizzas. "A tavola non si invecchia," or "When at the table one does not age" celebrates the simple pleasures of conversations buzzing and glasses clinking - at long last, a taste of authentic Italy. Duties:

• Provide a warm welcome and fond farewell to guests dining in Ariccia, Piccolo, or Thrive
• Greet all customers with fast, friendly, personalized service and develop a rapport with customers by learning their names and preferences
• Utilize OpenTable to manage guest reservations and seatings to optimize overall flow for both FOH and BOH teams
• Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs and according to rotation so that servers receive an appropriate number of seatings
• Escort guests to their tables and deliver clean and accurate menus to each seat; assist guests with chairs following Forbe's standards
• Ensure that all special occasions are being recorded and communicated to both FOH and BOH staff
• Communicate with guests and employees using a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to and understand requests, respond with appropriate actions and provide accurate information
• Answer telephone in a courteous and friendly manner; assist with guest requests/questions or direct them to the appropriate channel
• Collect orders for to-go and in-room dining, and input into the POS
• Assist with Thrive Café operations as needed
• Assist with running food from the expo window to guests' tables without announcing food following proper procedures
• Monitor and observe guest's experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with the beverages and service. Anticipate and respond promptly and courteously to any requests.
• Communicate effectively with front of house and back of house team members to ensure a highly executed dining experience.
• Have a comprehensive knowledge and ability to answer questions about our food, beverage, and overall restaurant and hotel offerings.
• Perform mise en place, opening and closing side work for daily service based on business levels expected.
• Always maintain a neat and clean work environment; ensure overall restaurant ambience is maintained throughout each shift
• Oversee our guests' experience following Ariccia's and IHP's standards of service
• Be available to perform lateral service as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor

Working Conditions:

• Be able to safely lift up to 25 pounds
• Considerable repetitive motion of hands, wrists, shoulders and back is required
• Workplace is a fast paced environment with considerable movement throughout the shift; requires standing and walking 95% of the workday
• Team members must have a flexible work schedule and ability to work nights, weekends and holidays

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and employees
• Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods
• A background in restaurant service is preferred.
• Upon selection able to complete the Responsible Vendor course for all team members 18 years old and above
• A basic knowledge of food & beverage procedures and functions
• Possess basic math skills and can handle money and operate a point-of-sale system
